Film Premiere "Tocsin"

Dmitri Shostakovich's 11th Symphony deals with the Russian Revolution of 1905. Written in 1956/1957, the work is understood as a warning to those in power, despite its historical context. “Tocsin,” translated as alarm bell, is the title of the final movement, which is understood as an expression of rebellion and a sign of political hope.

The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie's film adaptation of the symphony's fourth movement, once described by critics as a “film score without a film,” will celebrate its premiere on January 10, 2026, at Massif E in Frankfurt. Ensembles from the orchestra will provide a musical program, followed by a DJ set from the GG Vybe collective. We invite you to celebrate the premiere with us!
